The Art of Pairing Everyday Objects
Ceramics, candles, and objects that come together to create a moment.
There’s something special about a table that feels collected rather than coordinated.
A ceramic cup beside a candle. A small tray holding something you reach for every day. Different materials, colors, and forms sharing the same space—not because they were made to match, but because together they create a feeling. At The Creative Stories, this is how we think about our collections.
Our ceramics, candles, hydrostone trays and decorative pieces are designed as individual objects, but they’re also meant to live alongside one another—and alongside the things you already own.
Start with objects you love
There doesn’t need to be a formula. Maybe it’s a ceramic cup whose shape catches your eye. A candle you light every evening. Or a sculptural tray that has found a permanent place on your table. Start there....Then build around it with pieces that complement rather than copy it.

Look for connection, not matching
Pairing doesn’t mean choosing the same color or material. A softly glazed ceramic can sit beautifully against the raw, stone-like surface of hydrostone. A colorful candle can bring energy to a quiet neutral cup. A sculptural tray can ground objects with completely different forms. Sometimes the connection is color. Sometimes it’s texture. And sometimes it’s simply the mood the pieces create when you place them together.

Let the moment decide
How you pair your objects can change throughout the day. Morning might be a favorite cup, something warm to drink, and a small plate beside it. Later, the cup moves away and a candle takes its place. In the evening, you might bring both together again.
The objects stay familiar. The experience changes.
Leave room for your own things
Your table shouldn’t look like a catalogue. Add the book you’re reading. A pastry from the bakery. Fruit in a bowl. Flowers clipped from outside. A linen you love. Our pieces are intended to become part of your world—not define all of it. Because the most personal spaces are rarely perfectly styled. They’re layered slowly with objects, habits, memories, and things we simply enjoy having around us.
Make your own pairing
There is no correct combination. Mix ceramic with hydrostone. Put something colorful beside something quiet. Combine sculptural forms with simple ones. Move things around until the arrangement feels like you. The idea isn’t to create a perfect table. It’s to create a table you want to come back to.
